Chips, cracks, and water leaks are reasons to have your windshield inspected. The right next step depends on the damage and the vehicle; a chip does not automatically mean the whole windshield needs replacing.

Cracks and multiple damaged areas
Have long cracks, damage near an edge, or several damaged areas assessed by an auto glass technician. Replacement may be recommended when the damage is outside the service’s repair criteria. A photograph alone cannot confirm whether a windshield can be repaired.
Chips and bull’s-eye damage
Some chips, including some bull’s-eye breaks, can be repaired. Shape alone does not determine the answer: size, location, depth, and the condition of the glass also matter. Review our rock chip repair service and have the damage checked before choosing a repair or replacement.
Water around the windshield
If you notice water entering around the windshield, arrange an inspection to identify the source and the work required. A leak should not be used on its own to diagnose a need for new glass.
